I have a hard time relaxing ...

... I think I really just don't know how. It's hard for me. My brain never stops. The things in my life that trouble me never stop whizzing around in my head and never let up. Sorry about that babe. I'll work on it.

12 August 2008

My head is swimming ...

... there is so much going on in my head these days.

Should I sell the house? or hold out and hope the market/space program don't collapse?

Should I continue to make the 87 mile commute daily?

I have my MBA ... now what?

I'm in love with a girl ...

(some lyrics changed to make the song fit better) ... yes honey, I know how much you love when I post song lyrics on my blog ...

--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--

"In Love With A Girl"

So many people gonna say that they want you,
To try to get you thinking they really care,
But there's nothing like the warmth of the one
who has put in the time and you know is gonna be there,
Back your border when she knows someone crossed it,
Don't let nobody put you down, who your with
Take the pain of protecting your name,
from the crutch to the cane to the highwire

[Chorus:]
I'm in love with a girl who knows me better,
Fell for the woman just when I met her,
Took my sweet time when I was bitter,
Someone understands,
And she knows how to treat a girl right,
Give me that feeling every night,
Wants to make love when I wanna fight,
Now someone understand me,
I'm in love with a girl (I'm in love with) [x2]

After many broken backdoors and windows,
Through the valley of the love of the lost,
Is a hole that is cut through the souls falling down
from the thrones without any innuendos,
But you drown in a piece for the moment,
The moment was over in time,
Then its gone the hit and run the guiltless one has a short life

I'm in love with a girl who knows me better,
Fell for the woman just when I met her,

Took my sweet time when I was bitter,
Someone understands,
And she knows how to treat a girl right,
Give me that feeling every night,
Wants to make love when I wanna fight,
Now someone understand me,
I'm in love with a girl (I'm in love with) [x2]

Gonna tell you what you do to think you practice what you preach,
Now I know there's nothing we can't reach,
'cause the heart can't erase once it finds a place to be warm and welcome,
To be held in shelter

[Chorus:]
I'm in love with a girl who knows me better,
Fell for the woman just when I met her
Took my sweet time when I was bitter
Someone understands,
And she knows how to treat a girl right
Give me that feeling every night
Wants to make love when I wanna fight
Now someone understands me
I'm in love with a girl (I'm in love with) [x3]
Who knows me better
Wants to make love when I wanna fight
now someone understands me

I don't feel like cleaning ...

... and thanks to the internet, I haven't had to :)

So far today I have ...
- recategorized my MySpace friends
- changed my blog layout on here
- sorted through some old emails in Outlook
- ok, cleaned a little - worked on our room some

I worked my last overnight shift Thursday night. Marc was at least nice enough to let me go home early, which was good, because this week has been physically and emotionally draining.

Tigger is in the animal hospital. Last week she started acting really strangely. Having had her for 11 years, I know when she's off and there was definitely something wrong ... took her to the vet on Saturday. She's not drinking, eating very little and wandering around the house randomly meowing/howling. (She's not a meow-er.) My vet isn't available, so I saw a different vet than usual.
Vet tells me that her kidneys are both enlarged, the right one moreso. Bring her back on Monday for x-rays and an ultrasound. Okay, fine. Vet does the x-rays and ultra sound and some testing and realizes that her right kidney has stopped functioning and is causing her discomfort. The vet wants to take out her right kidney.
I had the conversation with the vet about cost of surgery vs. quality of life afterwards and life expectancy. Vet tells me 3-7 year life expectancy. 1-5% chance the surgery won't work. Those numbers both work for me. I don't want my cat to suffer. Yes, she's "older", but 11 is hardly a death sentence for a cat. Go ahead and do the surgery. That's Monday.
Wednesday I go to pick her up from the vet. Vet tells me that her back legs are a "little swollen" but that she is recovering well. They were unable to take out her kidney. The vet said she "saw some stuff in there she didn't like" but the vet moved some stuff around inside so that it's not pressing into her intestines anymore and she is comfortable. Vet gives me discharge instructions and I bring her home. I take her out of the towel she is wrapped up in, she takes one step and falls over. Gets up, falls over again. The swelling in her back legs has her so screwed up that she can't walk. She layed down on the ground and was trying so hard to get up with her front legs that she was literally spinning herself in circles and meowing out of pain/frustration.
I took her right back to the vet and the vet is like "oh" ... we talked about the potential causes and then tells me that though she hadn't considered it before, euthanasia may be the right course of action since she is older. I tell her that I want Tigger to stay there through the weekend and see. I'm not making any rash, emotionally charged decisions. She tells me that she's on vacation until Monday and that she's turning the case over to a different vet.
This vet calls me and asks me to bring back the meds that were dispensed so that he doesn't have to charge me for more and I head back. I talk to him, and that's when I learned that the reason they couldn't take out her kidney was because it was fused to her chest wall. This vet is referred to as "the cat whisperer" around town. He says that he thinks she'll be just fine.
This vet calls me every day with updates. He says that usually when kitties are dying they won't eat. He says Tigger is eating voraciously and that she is the sweetest little girl he's seen in a while. He says her leg is still swollen, but he's trying some meds to help her. Says she's pooping and sitting up just fine, but walking still bothers her a bit. He says that Dr. L will be back on Monday and he's going to consult with her. I told him that I didn't trust Dr. L's decisions because she was suggesting euthanasia last time we spoke. Dr. P tells me that he's in Tigger's corner and is convinced she'll be ok.
This may be the most expensive thing I've had to deal with lately, but it's my Tig Tig. I know, it's just an animal, but it's my Tig Tig. I love her immensely. People have told me that I have given her a good life and that if I have to put her down, it'll be ok. I'm just not ready to make that decision yet. I think she'll be ok. She's a stubborn ass and isn't ready to give up yet, and I'm not either.

I guess I better go clean some ...

I'M DONE WITH MY MBA!! :)

J moves in in 2 weeks ...

OMG ... Jami moves in by the 22nd. It's finally here.

We started dating in December, though no one really knows that - they think it's been less time than that.

Looking back, I wish that I would have told her to move in the night she broke up with Melissa, but I'm not certain that things would have panned out as they have thus far. The relationship is built on honesty and respect. We are being 100% honest with each other. No secrets, no lies. It really is better this way.

Got the guest room painted over the weekend. The khaki really does look nice. Got Krisha's old room primed. It was a rather bold Cobalt Blue ... soon it will be grey w/ black trim. Jami will have her own office. Her own place to sit down in front of the internet and study.

She's making some huge sacrifices to be with me, and I hope that she knows that I am in awe of what she is doing to be with me. She is taking a demotion at work. She is moving away from friends to live in Titusville. I know it's tough on her, I just hope that she knows I'm here for her and in this for the long haul.

Telling my story ...

So back in December Jami and I went to go see Judy Shepard speak at Stetson. She encouraged all of us to tell our stories. It's about time that I tell mine.

At 25 years old, a quarter of a century into existing, I have come to terms with my sexuality. I am a lesbian. And that's ok. I had a girlfriend a few years ago, dated a few guys in between, and have now found true happiness in the arms of a feisty redhead named Jami.

We have a great dynamic - she adds the edge to me when I need it, and I smooth out her rough spots when she needs it.

The thing that I've come to realize is that when you get to a certain point, relationships aren't just carefree and easy, both parties enter the relationship a little jaded and holding onto some mismatching baggage. Both parties enter the relationship with caution, excitement slightly overshadowed by worry. Worried that it will end just as their last relationships did. Worried that the same mistakes will be repeated. Worried that they don't have enough love to give. Worried that the emotional void that ultimately took up their entire existence will be back again, this time bigger than the last.

The web gets exceptionally tangled when one or both of the exes are still around, either as friends, or through friends. The doubt is there - will they end up back together? Eventually, both end up in new relationships, but still call each other from time to time to get advice, or vent, because they had been together for such a long time that they have some information that is still needed.

We both came into this a little jaded, a little bruised up, a little reluctant to take a chance. So far things are beautiful. She makes me smile in a way that I never have before. The look in her eyes first thing in the morning is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. Awake, innocent and smiling.

Sleeping a bit better these days ...

... my heart is happy.

Jami is moving in soon. Finally. I should have asked her to move in the night that she came over after the breakup. I knew then that we needed to be together.

I have so much in my head today, but I'm falling asleep at the helm here, so I'm headed to bed ... more to come later :)
